Weekly Challenge #3: How to Pivot _ Jia Jun Lye

Bad Pitch (Original Idea: YouTube as a Video Dating Site)

“Imagine a place where singles upload short video clips of themselves talking about their hobbies, favorite foods, or dream vacations. Other singles can watch these videos and decide if they’d like to connect. No more boring text bios: just watch a video and fall in love. It’s like speed dating, but online and in video form!”

(Why it’s bad: too niche; not differentiated from Tinder or other dating apps)

Pivot Pitch (YouTube as a General Video Platform)

“What if, instead of limiting video uploads to dating, we created a platform where anyone can upload and share videos of anything: music performances, tutorials, comedy skits, or even their pets? By opening it up to every type of content, we’ll build a massive community where creators share, viewers discover, and viral videos spread instantly. YouTube: Broadcast Yourself.”

(Why it’s better: broader scope, bigger market; create stronger viral-sharing/network effects)
