After today’s workshop on leveraging networks, I learned how important it is to sell myself, understand what I am genuinely interested in, and not be afraid to share what I am working on or ask others for help. I found most parts of the workshop helpful, especially because Gorick’s storytelling was very engaging and relatable.
In the future, I would love to hear more about whether Gorick ever experienced self-doubt or felt intimidated when talking to new people, and what he did to overcome those challenges before even talk to people. I would also enjoy having more interactive activities, especially since some activities had to be skipped toward the end of the workshop.
One recruiting challenge I hoped this event could help me with was learning how to introduce myself and write cold emails without making them sound like they were written by AI. This workshop helped me become more confident in personalizing my emails, talking to people more naturally, and building genuine connections and friendships. Overall, I learned that networking is not just about asking for opportunities, but also about being genuine, sharing my interests, and building relationships with others.
