Mindset: Ai’s Impact on Industry _ Belfu Berkol

Hi, I’m Belfu Berkol, and today I’m interviewing students, faculty, and professionals across UC Berkeley to explore three questions:
You: How do you think we can build AI safely and responsibly?
M.R.: I think responsible AI starts with transparency — making sure people understand how systems make decisions and where the data comes from.
You: That’s a great point. And have you already seen AI affect your field of study or future career?
M.R.: Definitely. In computer science, tools like ChatGPT and Copilot are changing how we code and learn — but they also make us rethink what creativity means.
You: Interesting. Where do you see this going in, say, ten years?
M.R.: I think AI will become like electricity — everywhere, invisible, and essential — but the real challenge will be keeping human judgment in the loop.
You: From your perspective, what does it mean to construct AI safely?
M.R.: It’s about governance and accountability — ensuring that ethics aren’t an afterthought but built into design from day one.
You: How is AI transforming your field already?
M.R.: In education, we’re using AI to personalize learning and support students, but we’re also rethinking assessment and integrity.
You: What about twenty years from now?
M.R.: AI could reshape how knowledge is created — but it will only be positive if universities stay leaders in ethics and critical thinking.
You: How do you define responsible AI in an industry setting?
M.R.: It’s all about balancing innovation and regulations.
From classrooms to startups, one thing is clear: AI is shaping every corner of society.
But the future depends on how responsibly we build and guide it — not just how powerful it becomes.
I’m Belfu Berkol, and this was my look at how we can safely construct the future of AI.
