1) Task I Delegated
I asked my roommate to buy me something at Target while they were already planning to go. I sent them the money in advance and told them exactly what I needed (brand, size, and where it usually is in the store). They said “yeah, no problem,” and they actually brought it back the same day without me having to remind them.
2a) What did you learn about your assumptions of trust?
I realized I tend to assume that if I don’t do something myself, it won’t be done “right” or on time. Before asking, I was worried they might forget, or see it as annoying or inconvenient. In reality, once I made the request clear and simple, they handled it very naturally. It reminded me that trust isn’t only about big, dramatic situations – it also grows through small, low-stakes favors where you give people a chance to show they’re reliable.
2b) Did anyone surprise you (positively or negatively)?
Yes, my roommate surprised me positively. I expected I might need to text a reminder, but they remembered on their own and even texted me from Target to confirm they had the right item. That extra effort made me feel like they really cared about doing the favor properly, not just “checking a box.”
