Class Swap! _ Vanshika Khaitan

My majors are Economics and Data Science, and this week I attended HUM 10. I chose the class because it was pretty far outside what I normally study. Most of my classes involve numbers, data, or problem sets, so I wanted to take a class where I could think about ideas from a completely different perspective.

One thing I took away from HUM 10 is that the way we present information can change how people understand it. In economics and data science, I tend to think about whether the data is accurate or whether a model makes sense. HUM 10 made me think more about what happens before that point, especially how context and the way something is presented can affect how people interpret it.

I also think this connects to my interest in product management. When looking at a product, data can tell you what users are doing, but it does not always tell you why. Understanding the person behind the data matters. HUM 10 reminded me that there is usually more to a problem than what can be measured, and that looking at it from a different perspective can change the questions you ask in the first place.
