Class Swap! _ Shruti Agrawal

I am studying Econ and Public Health and I decided to attend an upper division math class (Math 172: Combinatorics). I chose to attend it because my roommate is a math major and while I love math, I couldn’t imagine dedicating my whole life to it. Thus, I decided to take a class for fun since she usually teaches me about what she learns.

I learned about “Ramanujan’s identity” which basically says that the sqrt(1+sqrt(1+sqrt(1….) infinitely will converge to the golden ratio which is the same one that the fibonacci sequence converges to.

I am excited by this idea because math / patterns generally show us that there are trends and patterns all around us (history repeats itself…) and we should start to look for those to draw better conclusions.
