My team and I built PaperTrail, a mobile app designed to securely store important personal documents for individuals experiencing homelessness. Document loss is a major barrier to accessing housing, employment, and other essential services—especially in cities like San Francisco—so we set out to create a tool that helps people keep track of these documents and navigate the process of requesting new ones. I was not with my team for the entire event but I was so proud to be a part of a group that helped me get out of my comfort zone with an event like this and act as a volunteer, getting to see first hand the amazing projects of so many others.
