1) Openness to Opposing Views (L&S 104)
2) I initially enrolled in this course to just work towards the Berkeley Changemaker Certificate of Completion, but after learning more about the course, I’m now genuinely curious about practices for better engaging with opposing views. While I’ve always considered myself open-minded and known for seeing both sides of any argument, there are probably still other areas where I’m less receptive and could benefit from deeper introspection. Especially in today’s polarized world and in the light of recent events, I believe it’s more important than ever to learn how to remain open to perspectives different from our own.
3) Being open to opposing views doesn’t have to mean agreeing or finding a middle ground; it just means empathizing and recognizing that views alternative to your own are valid in their own ways.
