As an Applied Math and Data Science student who spends most of my time building ML systems, I’m drawn to the hands-on side of materials science, and I want to see firsthand how mycelium goes from a living organism to a usable material. I’m also a photographer who cares about intentional, minimal design, so learning how Open Fung is making fungal biomaterials easier to scale feels like the right mix of science, sustainability, and craft for me.
